Magnetic resonance tomography (MRT) –
PHILIPS 0.5 / 1.0 Tesla
Depending upon the diagnostic requirements, we examine you either with a 0.5 Tesla or a 1.0 Tesla MRT device manufactured by Philips. These devices from the "Gyroscan" series were constructed based on the standard of the "Intera" devices. The "Intera" devices from Philips currently reflect the highest technical standards in magnetic resonance tomography (MRT). The Tesla level describes the magnetic strength of the device; for many examinations you need a high level, but for other examinations you need a lower level.
The most important element of every computed tomography is a superconducting electromagnet, which weighs tons and is usually cooled by liquid helium. There are transmitting and receiving antennas built into its inner wall. Specially formed spirals are used for certain examinations, for example, examinations of the head; the knee joint; the spinal cord; or the female breast. In order to prevent disturbing influences on the examination from "foreign" radio waves, the examination room is shielded by a Faraday cage.
