The digital X-ray
The only difference between a digital and conventional X-ray is the resulting image. A normal X-ray uses photographic film, whereas a digital X-ray uses an electronic photographic plate.
This plate has a much higher sensitivity than normal X-ray film, so that the required radiation dosage for the image can be reduced by up to 90%. Another advantage is the electronic archive; this means films no longer have to be stored. The electronic storage of the image also allows for unlimited post-processing. Sections that are too dark can be brightened, and specific areas can be enlarged on the screen. In addition, up to 10 images a second can be created, allowing for a depiction of motion.
